HONOLULU, O’AHU – The Purple and White fell to 2-11 overall on the season after being defeated by Fordham and Hawaii on day one of the Rainbow Wahine Classic.
 
Game 1 Recap: Niagara 2, Fordham 7
• The Purple and White got on the board first when Maggie Kellner singled to left to drive in Lindsay Mayo who doubled to left to start the contest.
• The Rams would load the bases in the bottom half which led to a grand slam off of Niagara starter Maddie Hickingbottom.
• In the bottom of the third, Fordham would add two to its lead to go up 6-1 over the Purple Eagles.
• NU would get one back in the top of the fourth when Mayop reached on a fielder’s choice with the bases loaded scoring Shayna Myshrall from third.
• Fordham added one in the sixth to give the game its 7-2 final.
 
Niagara Notes
• Mayo went 1-for-2 with a run driven in and run scored, while also being hit by a pitch twice.
• Mayo’s double in the first was the lone extra base hit for NU.
• Bayleigh McCullough went 3-for-3, a career-best for the sophomore.
• Hickingbottom went 4.0 innings, allowing three earned runs on four hits. She finished the game with seven strikeouts.
 
Game 2 Recap: F/5: Niagara 0, Hawaii 9
• Hawaii jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first courtesy of a two-run home run off of Cara Leone.
• The Rainbow Warriors would add two more in the second inning, including one off a solo shot to left center.
• Up 6-0 in the fourth, Hawaii would add three more and homer for the third time in the contest en route to a 9-0 five inning win over the Purple Eagles.
• The lone hit for Niagara came from Myshrall who singled up the middle in the top of the second.
 
Niagara Notes
• Niagara used three pitchers in the contest, Leone, Hickingbottom and Julia Thompson.
• Hickingbottom added two strikeouts to her daily total and to finish with nine on the afternoon.
