Denise M. Fitzgibbon, 68, of Cambria, NY, passed away at her residence on January 4, 2023 under the care of her family and of Niagara Hospice. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Philip and Violet L. (Mokhiber) Ross.
Denise was a 1972 graduate of Niagara Falls High School. On June 24, 1978, she married Steven G. Fitzgibbon. She was employed in banking in Niagara Falls prior to working as a Letter Carrier for the United States Postal Service, also in Niagara Falls, for 25 years until her retirement in 2016. Denise’s life was centered on her family, and she was instrumental in taking care of her grandchildren. Denise was a member of the planning committee for the last 50 years of her high school reunions. She looked forward to her annual beach vacations with her girlfriends.
In addition to her husband of 44 1/2 years, she is survived by her children, Ross (Tanika) Fitzgibbon, Sean (Chantel) Fitzgibbon, and Patrick (Amanda) Fitzgibbon; her grandchildren, Caleb, Nicollette, Kaya, Xavior, Gabriel, Iysis, Oliver, Patrick Jr., Bryson, and Chase, her brother, Robin (late Jennifer) Ross, her special friends, Debbie O’Grady and Donna Reinbolt, as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother, Phillip ‘Buddy’ Ross.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 9 from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY 14304. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10 AM at Saint George Orthodox Church, 1073 Saunders Settlement Road, Niagara Falls, NY 14305. Interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.
