HAMBURG – The Buffalo State women’s basketball team finished off their fall semester after suffering a 61-53 loss to Hilbert tonight at the Brad Hafner Recreation Center.

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE

  • Tashawni Cornfield (Gowanda, NY/Putham) led the Bengals’ offense scoring 18 points on the night.
  • Jadyn Jones (Gowanda, NY/Lake Shore) chipped in 13 points of her own.
  • Cornfield also added four steals.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • After the Hawks went on an early 6-0 run, the Bengals clawed back after a competitive first quarter.
  • Hilbert put the pressure on the Bengals in the second quarter and went into halftime up 31-19.
  • In the third, the Bengals came out firing and chipped away at Hilbert’s lead.
  • Jones’ jumper got them within four, however, Hilbert would follow up with a 7-0 run to regain momentum.
  • Adiya Jones (Washington, D.C./McKinley Technology) got the Bengals within four again with just under seven minutes to play.
  • Hilbert would go on a 12-4 run to put the game away for good.

FOR THE FOES

  • Ashley Schroeder paced the Hawks with 32 points.
  • Macy Kisner added 13 points and five assists.
