Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand will travel Saturday with Vice President Kamala Harris to Buffalo to attend the funeral of Ruth E. Whitfield, mother of retired Buffalo Fire Commissioner Garnell W. Whitfield, and the oldest victim of the Buffalo supermarket shooting.
“I am grateful to Vice President Harris for coming to Buffalo to honor the life of Ruth Whitfield, a pillar of the Buffalo community,” said Senator Gillibrand. “The last two weeks have devastated our state and our country. As we mourn those who we lost, we must come together, use the examples of their lives, and accomplish something meaningful.”
