TOWN OF LOCKPORT — The Transit Drive-In Theater is slated to open Friday on two of the theater’s four screens.
The theater will show “Zootopia” and “The Finest Hour” on screen one, beginning at 7:45 p.m., and “Deadpool” and “The Revenant” on screen two beginning at 7:30 p.m.
The March 11 opening is the earliest the drive-in has opened in 35 years. The theater also closed the 2015 season later than it had closed a season in decades, choosing to take advantage of the mild December weather to show “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” which it played until mid-January.
Transit Drive-In owner Rick Cohen said screens three and four will be open in the weeks to come. A plan for a fifth screen at the drive-in had surfaced earlier this winter, but has been temporarily shelved.
Once again this year, the drive-in plans a weekly Tuesday “retro night” in June, July and August. The movie lineup has not been finalized but according to the drive-in’s Facebook page, potential pairings include:
- Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (1986) with The Breakfast Club (1985)
