BUFFALO — The Army Reserve Officers Training Corp (ROTC) program at Canisius College will commission 13 cadets as second lieutenants during a 10 a.m. ceremony on May 20 in the Montante Cultural Center at the corner of Main Street and Eastwood Place.

U.S. Army Lieutenant General (retired) Peter Cuviello ’69 will serve as guest speaker. Cuviello previously served as the Army’s chief information officer under President Bill Clinton.

Two students attend Canisius College, seven attend the State University of New York at Buffalo, three attend the State University College at Buffalo and one attends Hilbert College. The Canisius students being commissioned are:

  • Frederick W. Kintzel, a political science major, has been assigned to the Adjutant General Corps, HHC, 401st Civil Affairs Battalion, Rochester.
  • Michael R. Slutzky, a history major, has been assigned to the Army National Guard, Infantry, Co A, 2-108th Infantry, in Geneseo.
