CENTERVILLE — The driver of a 2005 Chevy Cobalt that crashed into a utility pole in May, fatally injuring a 15-year-old passenger in the vehicle, has now been charged with manslaughter.

New York State Police charged Thomas R. Marion, 22, of Caneadea with first-degree vehicular manslaughter, endangering the welfare of a child, unlawfully dealing with a child, and a Leandra’s Law violation — driving while intoxicated with a juvenile in the vehicle.

According to NYSP, Marion was driving south on Dow Road around 1 a.m. on May 7, when he lost control and struck a utility pole. The vehicle had a total of five occupants all with injuries. One of the passengers, Jasmine R. Uveino-Braymiller, 15, of Portageville, was fatally injured.

Marion reportedly had a .09 percent blood alcohol content on the night of the collision.
