LOCKPORT — The Niagara County Courthouse has been evacuated due to a reported bomb threat.

Traffic has been shut down on the streets surrounding the courthouse and the parking lot has been cleared.

The bomb threat was reportedly called in to the courthouse. Officials have not offered any details as of yet, aside from saying that the courthouse will remain closed for the day.

A bomb threat was called into the building in December. After searching for several hours, bomb squads came up empty handed. That was also called in on a Friday. Business resumed as normal on Monday.

UPDATE: Lockport Police are asking people to avoid the area and for those who live close by to remain indoors.

UPDATE: Bomb sniffing dogs from Erie and Niagara County Sheriff’s offices are on scene and will go through the courthouse room-by-room.
