ORCHARD PARK — Presumed Buffalo Bills starters won their quarter, taking a 9-0 lead on the Indianapolis Colts, but when the final second ticked on the game, the Colts were up 19-18.
Tyrod Taylor, who recently signed a contract extension with the Bills, played just one series, passing for 7 yard while going 2-3. EJ Manuel came in on backup, playing the equivalent of about two quarters, passing for 92 yards while going 10 for 18 and passing a touchdown to tight end Chris Gragg, who also blocked a Colts punt in the first quarter that resulted in a safety.
Rookie quarterback Cardale Jones came in for the Bills in the third, looking impressive with 162 yards while going 11 for 21 and a touchdown with just seconds left in the game. A two-point conversion attempt by Jones for the win fell flat as time expired.
The Bills next play at 4 p.m. Oct. 20 when the New York Giants visit what is currently Ralph Wilson Stadium but will be getting a rebranding soon as the Bills announced today that they have reached a deal with New Era Cap Company for naming rights of the stadium.
