WEST SENECA — A 30-year-old Hamburg man has been arraigned in West Seneca Town Court on the felony charge of second-degree vehicular manslaughter.
According to the Erie County District Attorney’s Office, Shane Heisler was driving his vehicle on Union Road around 1 p.m. on July 16 when it is alleged that he drove into the oncoming lanes of traffic and struck a vehicle being driven by 65-year-old Ronald Heiss.
Riding in Heiss’ vehicle were his wife Diane Heiss and 71-year-old Barbara Guenther of West Seneca, a rear seat passenger. Guenther died as a result of injuries from the accident.
The people in the Heiss car were on their way to a wedding when the crash happened.
Heisler pleaded not guilty and will be back in West Seneca court on Sept. 2 for a felony hearing.
Judge Filbert set bail in the amount of $15,000 cash/$25,000 bond.
