Eugene A. Eick, age 87, of Middleport, entered into rest on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Born February 4, 1929 in the Town of Royalton, NY he is the son of the late: Loren and Lydia (Wruck-Frisch) Eick.
He worked at Harrison Radiator in skilled trades for many years. Gene served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He married Dolores Harch December 29, 1948 at St. Michaels in Wolcottsville. They have been married 67 years. Eugene has lived in the Middleport area all of his life. Eugene enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a lifelong member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Middleport. Gene was a member of the local RC Club and enjoyed building and flying remote controlled airplanes. Eugene won the Golden Hammer Award from Mechanix Illustrated Magazine for hand built custom made sport car. He also enjoyed working around the house.
Surviving is his loving wife: Dolores J. (Harch) Eick and daughter: Debra (Dr. Mark) Perry of Lewiston
Also surviving Eugene is his grandsons: Bryan (Amy) Perry of Grand Island, Doctors Gregory (Melissa) Perry of Cohoes, NY and Jeffrey (Elizabeth) Perry of Ransomville. Great grandfather of: Carter and Aria, and Oliver and Emma. Brother of: Gary (Peggy) Eick of Gasport and the late: David and Gerri (Harch) Eick. Several nieces and nephews also survive Eugene.
Family and friends are invited to visitation on Sunday, September 18, 2016 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at the Bates, Wallace and Heath Funeral Home, 38 State Street, Middleport, NY. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, September 19, 2016 at 11:00 am from the Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Route 31 at Vernon, Middleport, NY 14105. Burial will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Medina, NY.
