BUFFALO — Bass Sarr (New York/JREC) scored the go-ahead goal in the 60th minute, as the Bengals were able to hold on for a 2-1 win in a physical SUNYAC conference match against Plattsburgh this afternoon at Coyer Field.

Buffalo State got on the board first, as Drew Braun (East Aurora/Iroquois) headed home a cross from Sammy Wasson (Clarence/Clarence) off a set-piece that was created by a Plattsburgh foul just outside the box to put the Bengals ahead, 1-0. Despite controlling much of the action in the first half, Buffalo State and Plattsburgh played a scoreless rest of the first.  Buffalo State led 8-1 in shots, and held a 1-0 lead.

Plattsburgh’s Alexis Archilla struck under five minutes into the second half, as he stole the ball away from the Buffalo State goalkeeper and chipped it into the open net to tie things up, 1-1.
Sarr broke through in the 60th minute with the game-winner.  Tristan Myers (Rochester/Webster Thomas) went on a run down the near sideline before finding Sarr in the middle of the field, who received the pass and cut towards the net before ripping a shot inside the far-side post for a 2-1, Buffalo State lead. The game was a physical match by both sides, as the referee put the whistle away and let the two teams decide it on the field.  With a little over two minutes left in the game, a hard foul on Sarr along with a late push after the play caused a meeting of the minds at midfield between the two teams, with the Bengals racing to the defense of their teammate.  After a pushing and shoving match, order was restored and Buffalo State controlled the final two minutes of play to seal the 2-1 victory.
