The Canisius College women’s soccer team will travel to Hamden, Conn. to face Quinnipiac tomorrow afternoon in the first round of the MAAC Tournament. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. and can be seen on ESPN3.

Canisius was picked ninth in the MAAC pre-season poll and ended up concluding with the #5 seed. The Griffs finished the regular season 8-8-0 overall, with a 6-4 MAAC record, finishing 3-5-0 on the road and 5-3-0 at home. Freshman sensation forward Gretta Dry ended the regular season leading the Griffs in points (20), goals (8), and tied for first in assists with four. Dry also had four game-winning goals in the Griffs eight wins. Fellow classmate goalkeeper Alana Rossi garnered a home scoreless streak that reached 347:29 straight minutes that spanned from Aug. 28 versus Robert Morris to the second half versus Iona on Oct. 15. The Blue and Gold have been strong in the second half netting 12 of their total 20 goals on the year in the second stanza, with two coming in overtime and the other six in the first halves.

The battle between the Griffs and Bobcats will be the seventh in program history. The two teams first squared off in 2008, with Quinnipiac defeating the Griffs 1-0. Canisius is 2-3-1 lifetime versus Quinnipiac, with the Bobcats upending the Griffs earlier this season, 3-0. This will be the first meeting in the MAAC Tournament between the two squads. Canisius has been held scoreless versus the Bobcats over the last 196:30 minutes.
