BUFFALO — The University at Buffalo women’s swimming and diving team welcomed the Akron Zips to the Alumni Arena Natatorium on Friday. The Bulls dominated in both the diving well and the swimming pool.

After falling to Akron in the 200 Medley Relay, the Bulls stepped it up and took away a first place finish in the next two events. Hannah Miller blew her competition away in the 1000 Free. She was several seconds ahead of the second and third place finishers; clocking in at 10:14.05. In the 200 Free, Megan Burns took first with a time of 1:49.61. The Bulls also saw first place finishes in the 500 Free (Hannah Miller; 4:59.71), 200 IM (Sarah Baxter; 2:05.23), 50 Free (Burns; 22.82), 100 Free (Burns; 50.24), 200 Fly (Julia Box; 2:03.10), and the 200 Free Relay (Eve Kosten, Catherine Schultheis, Sarah Baxter, and Megan Burns; 1:32.97).

The Bulls also saw success from several other athletes tonight. Catherine Schultheis took third in the 50 Free (23.79) and third in the 100 Free (51.90). Eve Kosten took second in the 50 Free with a time of 23.79. Grace Baumer took third in the 200 Breast with a time of 2:21.62Anna Vitolins took second in the 100 Breast with a time of 1:05.26.

The Bulls proved impressive in the diving well in addition to the pool. Abbey Croce took first on the one-meter dive with a score of 293.40. Coming in second, was teammate Valerie Lortie, who had a score of 252.83. Croce also took first on the three-meter dive with a score of 279.90.


The Bulls are back in action again on December 2nd, when they travel to Akron for the Zippy Invitational.
