BUFFALO — Buffalo State could not overcome a 21-3 deficit at the end of the first quarter as it fell to the Rochester Institute of Technology, 68-52 in tonight’s non-conference game at the Buffalo State Sports Arena.

Princella McCullough (Rochester/Bishop Kearney) led the Bengals in scoring with 16 points. McCullough also had a game-high 18 rebounds, to record her fifth double-double of the season. Taylor Graham (Santa Rosa, CA/Maria Carrillo) added 15 points, knocking down four 3-pointers. Caleh McLean (New Rochelle/New Rochelle), Grace Licata (Williamsville/Williamsville South), Graham and McCullough each finished with two steals. The Tigers got out to a quick start, scoring 12 unanswered points to open the game. The Bengals were never able to claw their way back despite the hard fought effort. Despite a mid-game surge, Buffalo State was never able to completely close the gap on the Tigers. The closest the Bengals were was an eight-point deficit in the third quarter. Buffalo State shot 29.2 percent from the field, compared to 43.5 percent from R.I.T.

Buffalo State travels to Cortland on Friday to face the Red Dragons at 7:30 p.m.
