ELMA – Erie County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a one-vehicle crash at approximately 5:19 p.m. Thursday along Clinton Street.
Deputies responded to the crash scene (between Winspear and Handy roads) where they observed one vehicle on its roof and multiple individuals tending to the occupants until first aid arrived.
The female passenger was extricated and transported to Erie County Medical Center with upper body and head injuries; she remains in critical but stable condition. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators from the Sheriff’s Crash Investigation Unit concluded the vehicle was unable to negotiate and curve causing the vehicle to leave the roadway striking a culvert then a light/utility pole and came to rest on the roof.
