Buffalo State senior Eric Schiffman (Wantagh/MacArthur) was honored this past Monday at the Western New York Amateur Football Alliance’s 16th annual Scholar-Athlete Recognition Dinner at Ilio DiPaolo’s Restaurant, calling attention to a graduating senior from each of the area’s collegiate football programs.

Schiffman completed his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice last May, maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.75 and was pursuing his master’s also in criminal justice this fall while completing his football career.  A member of Alph Chi Sigma, the national student-athlete honors society, Schiffman was honored on the Dean’s list seven times, including two perfect 4.0 semesters.  On the field, the tight end was a member of the Bengals for five seasons, earning a medical hardship in 2013.  He registered a pair of receptions for 19 yards and scored a touchdown on his only run of his career, covering 13 yards.  He also played a key role with the Bengals’ special teams unit.
