DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Buffalo State senior tight end Nick Jones (Buffalo/West Seneca West) will suit up alongside players from the likes of Penn State, Michigan State, Texas Tech, South Carolina and other top-caliber FBS programs in the 2017 Tropic Bowl on Sunday at the Daytona Beach Municipal Stadium.

The Tropical Bowl is an elite and exclusive FBS College All-Star game intended to showcase the nation’s top graduating collegiate prospects to scouts from the NFL and CFL.  Practices begin in Daytona on Friday, Jan. 13.  Jones will be one of just six Division III players participating in the game.  The 2016 Tropical Bowl saw 27 NFL teams attend, including almost 70 NFL scouts and general managers.

Jones played two seasons for the Bengals after previously playing at Erie CC and University of Texas-El Paso and serving five years in the United States Marine Corps.  The 6’6″, 260-pound tight end caught 29 passes for 256 yards and four touchdowns in two seasons and was also a strong run blocker.  The health and wellness major was named second team All-Empire 8 as a senior.
