BUFFALO — Mike Henry (Syracuse/West Genesee) netted a career-high 42 points and Buffalo State tied a school record with 16 3-pointers in a 110-104 victory over visiting Geneseo tonight in a SUNYAC contest at the Sports Arena.

Henry hit is first 11 field goals of the game and finished 15 of 18 from the field.  He also grabbed 14 rebounds. Dom Grayer (Brooklyn/Bishop Loughlin) also posted a new career-best with 27 points, including knocking down seven 3-pointers. J.O. Spence (Brooklyn/Bayard Rustin) added 18 points off the bench. Nico McLean (Buffalo/Amherst) had eight assists and scored 10 points to put him just three shy of 1,000 for his career. Lovell Smith (Buffalo/McKinley) chipped in nine points, eight rebounds and four assists. After a back-and-forth first half that saw 17 lead changes, Buffalo State used a 14-4 run to close the period with a 50-43 advantage. The Bengals never trailed the rest of the way.  Buffalo State used another 14-4 run to push the lead to as many as 15 with just over five minutes remaining. The Knights made one more push, cutting the deficit to four with under two minutes left, but could not come any closer as the Bengals converted on 9 of 18 free throws down the stretch which proved to be enough to preserve the win.

Buffalo State shot 51 percent from the field for the game, including 47 percent from long range, hitting 16 of 34 from beyond the arc.  The Bengals were 20 of 37 from the charity stripe. Geneseo also shot 51 percent from the field, but was just 11 of 29 from 3-point range.  The Knights hit 21 of 24 at the free-throw line. Buffalo State will visit Brockport at 5:30 p.m. Saturday for the second meeting between the two teams this week.
