GENESEO — Connor Mergler (E. Amherst/Williamsville North) won a pair of events today as Buffalo State competed at the Geneseo Invitational, leading the men’s team to a third-place finish in the six-team meet.  The Bengals women placed fifth of five teams.

Mergler touched first in both the 100 and 200 freestyle events, clocking 47.32 seconds and 1:46.89 respectively. He also teamed with Dan Kuznetsov (Williamsville/Williamsville South), Ryan McHale (Lancaster/Lancaster) and Cody Wittmeyer (Boston/Hamburg) to place second in the 200 free relay (1:30.08). Kuznetsov added a third-place finish in the 500 free with a time of 5:00.24.
Alyssa Greymont (Morgan Hill, CA/Flex Academy) posted the top showing on the women’s docket for the Bengals, touching third in the 500 free with a time of 5:25.80. Geneseo won the men’s meet with a score of 653, followed by New Paltz (329), Buffalo State (234), Alfred State (161), Monroe CC (144) and Marywood (105). On the women’s side, Geneseo won with 601 points, followed by New Paltz (393), Alfred State (215), Monroe CC (200) and Buffalo State (78).

Buffalo State will close out the regular season with a rescheduled dual meet at Brockport next Saturday at 1 p.m.
