AKRON, Ohio – The Bulls had an outstanding performance the first day of the Akron Invitational on Friday. They saw success from several athletes on both the men’s and women’s side.

The women’s pentathlon was an amazing and exciting events for the Bulls. Emma Siuciak destroyed the school record in the event, scoring 3855, nearly 100 points more than the previous school record set in 2011 by Ajla Glavasevic. Siuciak sets this record after battling several injuries throughout her career and numerous setbacks. Siuciak also set a new personal record in the 60HH with 8.81. She also tied for first in the high jump, clearing 5′ 7.25″. Selina Von Jackowski and Martine Bye also competed in the pentathlon for the Bulls. Both were able to land in the school’s All-Time Top-Five performances. This was Von Jackowski’s first ever pentathlon, and she put up a score of 3549; while Bye put up a score of 3512.

Miranda Daucher did well in the weight throw for the Bulls, marking a new personal best and taking first place. Her new personal best came on her final throw of the competition, where she threw for a distance of 161′ 8″; this throw is also what brought her into the lead. Kailyn Arcury did a stellar job at the competition as well; she took second place in the blue jung jump, setting a new personal record of 18′ 4.75″. Laura Libruk and Hannah Roof each set new personal records for themselves in their events. Libruk beat her previous personal best in the 5000m by 25 seconds, clocking in at 18:19.66. Roof cleared the bar at 11′ 6.75″ on the pole vault to set her new personal best.

The men had a stellar performance at the competition as well. The Distance Medley Relay team of Thomas Meehan, Treyvon Mask, Justin Van Epps, and Barrett Kemp claimed first in the event. Kemp held a strong anchor position for the quartet; helping the team clock in at 10:08.32, ever three seconds ahead of second place.

Daniel Normoyle led the way for the Bulls on the pole vault. He took away a fifth place finish, clearing the bar at 15′ 0.5″. Dan Muldoon hit a personal best time in the 5000m. Muldoon clocked in at 15:25.78 in the event, finishing in third place.


The Bulls will start day two of the competition on Saturday, and are hoping to have another successful day.
