Joshua Gali added his name to the record books again, after previously breaking the 10-year-old school record in the 200m last weekend. This weekend, Gali broke the school record in the 400m with a time of 46.92. The school record that Gali broke was set back in 2001 by Joe Clark. His time placed him fourth at the competition, first in the Mid-American Conference, and 26th in the NCAA. The record-breaking did not stop there; the combined effort from Gyasi Morris, Joshua Gali, Craig Kaiser, and Mitchell Moore wrote a new school record in the 4X400m Relay. The team beat the previous record (set in 2009) by three seconds, clocking in at 3:10.62. Their time currently puts them first in the MAC.
Craig Kaiser’s stellar performances were also seen in the 1000m. He ran a season best 1:52.93 in the event, which currently ranks him third in the Mid-American Conference. Caleb Covell also finds himself ranked in the MAC, clocking in at 8:20.45 in the 3000m; fastest time for a Buffalo freshman, a personal best, and fifth in the conference. Mitchell Moore ran to a new season best in the 400m, clocking in at 47.51 for a fifth place finish.
Stephanie Ward also was an outstanding performer for Buffalo. The freshman set a new fastest time for freshmen in the 3000m, clocking in at 9:53.36. This is the third competition in a row that a fastest-freshmen time has been set in the event. Three athletes were sent to the finals in the 60HH. Kailyn Arcury led the way for the Bulls with a second place finish. Arcury hit a new personal best of 8.55 in an extremely competitive field.
In the field events, Mikayla Pearce proved to be a driving force. She launched herself to a distance of 19′ 6″ in the long jump for a third place finish. This distance currently ties her for third in the MAC, and is a MAC Auto-Qualifying mark.
The Bulls have just two more competitions before Indoor MAC Championships. They will travel next weekend to Akron, OH and Ithaca, NY. Friday, February 18th they will be in Akron, OH for the Zips Invite; they then travel to Ithaca, NY on Saturday for the Deneault Invite.
