OSWEGO — No. 8 Oswego scored three first-period goals and snapped visiting Buffalo State’s six-game winning streak with a 5-1 victory today in an ECAC West contest.

Oswego quickly jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the opening 7:30. The Lakers struck first just 1:25 into the game and netted their second goal less than two minutes later.  A power-player marker a little later completed the first-period scoring. Rachel Lenard (Orchard Park, NY/Nardin) got Buffalo State on the board in the second period with the 11th goal of the season and third in two days.  Natasha Steinle (Morrison, CO/CIHA) and Lila Toczek (Pendleton, NY/Starpoint) were credited with the assists. Oswego reclaimed the three-goal advantage in the final minute of the second period and added another marker late in the third. The Lakers outshot Buffalo State 29-26, and Justine Silva (Baldwin Park, CA/Arroyo) finished with 24 saves in the loss.

Buffalo State will host No. 1 Plattsburgh for the final two games of the regular season next Friday and Saturday.
