NIAGARA UNIV. — The Niagara University women’s Purple Eagles basketball team will host Siena for their annual Play4Kay game at 7 p.m. Thursday. For every person that attends the game, head coach Jada Pierce will donate one dollar to the Kay Yow Fund.

A strong second half push lifted the Purple Eagles over Marist, 68-53, on Sunday. Kaylee Stroemple led the Purple Eagles in scoring with 19 points. She also brought down nine rebounds and had a team-high three steals. Victoria Rampado had a team-high 11 rebounds and added 18 points to record her seventh double-double of the season.

Redshirt-junior forward Rampado leads the Purple Eagles in scoring with 16.6 points per game and in rebounding with 8.0 rebounds per game. Rampado leads the MAAC in scoring and is tied for second in rebounding. Junior forward Stroemple also averages in double figure scoring with 12.8 points per game. Stroemple has the second-best field goal percentage in the MAAC; she is 129-for-250 for a percentage of 51.6. Jamie Sherburne has the sixth-most assists in the MAAC with 3.1 assists per game. Niagara is tied for third in the MAAC in 3-point field goal percentage; the team is 138-for-434 (31.8%), is second in free throw percentage (75.4%) and is fourth in the MAAC in overall field goal percentage (39.8%).

Sophomore guard Jackie Benitez leads the Saints in scoring with 16.5 points per game. She is second in the MAAC in scoring. Benitez has the second-best free throw percentage (81.7%) in the MAAC and has the most steals (3.3 steals per game). Kollyns Scarbrough, a junior guard, leads the team in rebounding with 6.2 rebounds per game. Senior forward Meghan Donohue has the best field goal percentage in the conference; she is 121-for-214 for a percentage of 56.5. Overall, the Saints are second in the MAAC in steals (10.3 per game), third in scoring (65.9 points per game) and fifth in field goal percentage (38.9%) and blocked shots (3.2 blocks per game).

The Purple Eagles host Saint Peter’s for senior day, and their final home game of the season, on Saturday at 3 p.m.
