BUFFALO — University at Buffalo women’s soccer fourth-year head coach Shawn Burke announced the addition of Mackenzie Allen and Sidney Reeves to his 2017 signing class on Thursday afternoon. The Bulls now have a total of six signees in their signing class.
Allen comes to Buffalo after a very successful high school career at Aquinas Institute of Rochester where she was a four-year member and two-year team captain. Allen helped lead her team to a 10-6-4 record during her senior campaign while earning Second Team All-Greater Rochester and First Team Private Parochial honors. She was named Aquinas Institute Defensive Player of the Year for her strong play during her senior season. As a sophomore, Allen helped lead the Little Irish to a Sectional Championship. The athletically gifted defender also played for the Empire United Soccer Academy for nine seasons. Allen’s brother, Jordan Allen, currently plays in the MLS for Real Salt Lake.
Burke on Allen: “Mackenzie will bring much needed depth to our backline. Joining us from a decorated soccer family, Mackenzie knows what is needed to compete at the highest level and will look to make an impact early on.”
Reeves joins the Bulls after a record-setting career at Groton high school where she set the school record for goals in a career with 87. The four-year team captain helped lead the Indians to a 14-2-1 record during her senior campaign as she chipped in with career-highs in goals (34), assists (9) and points 77. She helped lead her team to the Section 4 Class C Divisional Championship and Section 4 Class C IAC Championships during her senior campaign. Reeves earned Fourth Team All-New York State honors as a senior while also being named IAC first team All-Star five times. She was named Section 4 Class C Divisional MVP as a junior and senior. Also had a very successful club career as she played three seasons for the Syracuse Development Academy and six seasons for the Olympic Development Program.
Burke on Reeves: “We are looking forward to another attacking force up top. Sidney has had a tremendous prep career and a knack for scoring goals.”
Allen and Reeves join a highly-touted recruiting class that already includes Kaitlyn Walsh, Marcella Barberic, Gianna Yurchak and Lena Lucas.
