BUFFALO — Three-time defending national champion and No. 1-ranked Plattsburgh skated to a 3-0 victory over host Buffalo State tonight in an ECAC West contest at the Ice Arena.

Plattsburgh controlled the zone play in the opening period, but could not break through as the teams went into the first intermission knotted in a scoreless draw. Despite some early pressure by the Bengals in the second period, the Cardinals finally broke through with a power-play marker seven minutes into the second period. Plattsburgh added another goal late in the middle frame to take a two-goal edge into the third period. The Cardinals netted an insurance marker, and Buffalo State could not break the shutout despite holding a 10-7 edge in shots over the final 20 minutes.
Plattsburgh finished with a 40-25 advantage in shots on goal for the game. Justine Silva (Baldwin Park, CA/Arroyo) made 37 saves in the loss. The Bengals were 0 for 6 on the power play, and the Cardinals were 1 for 4.

The Bengals and Cardinals will close out the regular season tomorrow with a 2 p.m. faceoff.
