WILLIAMSVILLE — Despite winning three single matches, the Purple Eagles were edged 4-3 by the Binghamton Bearcats on Friday.

After dropping the doubles point, three Purple Eagles picked up wins in singles action. Sharlee Deshmukh defeated Rebecca Dellaway  in three singles. Deshmukh edged Dellaway in the first set, 7-5, before cruising to a 6-2 win in the second set. Sansriti Ranjan defeated Paulina Tafler in straight sets, 6-0, 6-2, in four singles. In No. 5 singles, Ali Hutchinson topped Allison Roma, 6-2, 6-3. However, the Bearcats won in No. 1, 2 and 6 singles to pull out the win.

Niagara concludes its four-match home stand against Wright State on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at South Towns Tennis Club in Orchard Park.
