BUFFALO – Canisius forward Nick Hutchison has been named to the 2016-17 Gladiator Custom Mouthguards Atlantic Hockey Conference All-Rookie Team, league officials announced Friday.
A native of Hicksville, Hutchison is just the eighth player in program history to garner all-rookie team accolades and the first since Dave Kostuch was named to the Atlantic Hockey All-Rookie Team during the 2008-09 season.
Hutchision appeared in 27 league games for the Griffs during his rookie campaign, helping lead Canisius to the program’s first Atlantic Hockey regular season title. He finished the regular season tied for first amongst AHC freshmen in scoring, amassing 20 points on nine goals and 11 assists. Hutchison also paced Atlantic Hockey rookies and ranked sixth overall with six power-play goals.
