GENESEO – The Niagara University women’s track and field team got solid performances from its underclassmen at the SUNY Geneseo Early Season Invite on Sunday.

Freshman Morgan Palmer set a school record in the discus throw en route to claiming first place in the event. Palmer’s fourth throw went 40.95m. Sophomore Maggie Gerard finished seventh in the discus throw with a personal best of 34.40m. Palmer and Gerard had strong performances in the shot put, too. Palmer finished fourth (11.42m) and Gerard was fifth (11.21m). Freshman Elizabeth Suhay had a top-10 placement in the long jump. Suhay finished 10th (4.81m). Maggie Doyle ran the 200m dash in 27.20 to finish in eighth place. Doyle was 15th in the 400m with a time of 1:03.88

The Purple Eagles are back in action on Saturday at the Nazareth/Roc City Classic in Rochester.
