Canisius golf team played its final two rounds before next weekend’s MAAC Golf Championship on Saturday, and the Golden Griffins posted a team score of 626 to finish third at the Battle of the Warren, hosted by Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind.

Sophomore John Dantonio tied for 10th in the field with his two-round score of 150, highlighted by his two-over par 72 in the second round. Junior Michael Davern placed 16th with his 36-hole score of 155, and freshman Jaret Chipman tied for 19th with his score of 161.

The host Notre Dame Fighting Irish won the team title with a score of 577, while Detroit-Mercy placed second with a team score of 597. Notre Dame’s Kevin Conners won the individual medalist honors after he carded a two-round score of 141, highlighted by his two-under 68 in the second round.

Canisius will return to action Friday when the team takes part in the annual MAAC Golf Championships. This year’s event will once again be hosted at the Disney Magnolia Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
