BINGHAMTON — The University at Buffalo softball team lost a pair of mid-week contests at Binghamton on Tuesday, losing the first game 3-2 and the second contest 6-2.

Buffalo struck first in the opener as the Bulls got on the board in the top of the first as freshman Gabby Keller singled to right field, driving in junior Leandra Jew.  The Bearcats tied it up in the bottom of the first and then scored two more in the second to take a 3-1 lead.

The game remained 3-1 into the sixth when freshman Jessica Goldyn reached second base on an error and then Keller drove in her second run of the game as she singled to center, driving in Goldyn.  The Bulls got a leadoff walk in the seventh, but lined into a double play to end the game.

Sophomore Ally Power picked up the loss as she allowed five hits in 6.0 innings as well as three runs, two of those earned.  Keller had two of the four hits for Buffalo as Goldyn and sophomore Alyssa Cuevas added the other two.  Cuevas doubled in the second for UB’s lone extra base hit of the game.

In the second game, Buffalo again scored in the first inning, plating two.  Goldyn led off with a walk and she came in to score on an error by third base.  Later in the inning, sophomore Catrell Robertson doubled to right center, scoring Leandra Jew.  In all, the Bulls sent eight to the plate in the first inning, but were only able to manage the two runs.

The Bearcats scored one in the bottom half of the inning, but the Bulls continued to lead 2-1 all the way up until the sixth inning when Binghamton scored five runs to take a big lead.  The big hit was a bases clearing three-run double with two outs.  Binghamton was able to retire the final 13 Buffalo batters in the game.  In fact, the Bulls had just one base runner after the first inning.

Senior Bobbi Langlois picked up the loss as she went 5.2 innings and allowed six hits and four runs, three of those earned, while striking out five.  Brieanna Baker came on in relief and allowed a pair of runs in 0.1 innings pitched.

Keller recorded two more hits as she had four on the day.  She had two of the three UB hits.

The Bulls will continue their road trip this weekend when they open a three-game series at Miami (OH).  The teams will begin with a single game on Friday at 3pm.
