LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — The Purple Eagles women’s soccer team fell to No. 1 Monmouth, 1-0, in the MAAC tournament quarterfinals on Sunday.

Game Recap

  • The first half of the game was a defensive battle between the Purple Eagles and the Hawks. Monmouth took six shots in the first half, three of which were saved by Locas. In the 39thminute, Alexis Horwedel took Niagara’s lone shot of the half, but it soared high.
  • Both teams continued to play staunch defense in the second half, but the Hawks struck late in the game, scoring in the 84th minute to take a 1-0 lead.
  • Breanne Guevara took a shot in the 90th minute to try and even the score, but it was saved by the Monmouth keeper and the Hawks came away with the victory.
