Lucinda “Pete” Dempesy-Sims, passed away on Thursday November 9, 2017. Born in Lockport on August 31, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Ruth Cannon Sims. Pete had three Master’s Degrees for Counseling and Psychology, and worked for Orleans-Niagara Boces as a School Counselor for 40 years, retiring in 2014. She was a Deacon in the Episcopal Church and was a 5th Generation member of Christ Episcopal Church in Lockport. She enjoyed, tending to her horses, donkey and goats, was a Green Bay Packers fan and loved knitting.
Pete is survived by her wife of 5 years, Catherine Dempesy-Sims; her son, Patrick Sims Cornell; sister of Daniel (Linda) Sims. Pete is also survived by her Mother in-law, Elaine B. Dempesy; her beloved aunt, Betty Cannon; cousin, Mary Anne (Chuck) Hawkes and nieces Kristine Colley and Samantha (Casey) Carden.
There will be no prior visitation. Friends are in invited to a memorial service, to celebrate Pete’s life on Friday November 17, 2017, at Christ Episcopal Church, 7145 Fieldcrest Dr, Lockport, NY 14094, at 11 AM. Memorials to the Church or to the Episcopal Diocese of WNY, in Support of programs dear to Pete’s Heart.
