SILVERTHORN – Robert Bruce On Sunday, December 10, 2017, we lost the legendary R. Bruce Silverthorn, age 75, after a brief battle with cancer.
Known for his colorful vocabulary and larger than life personality, he was a man who stood by his motto, “I may grow older, but I’ll never grow up”. He drew people in everywhere he travelled, by air and by sea, with his magnetic personality. Staying true to his Irish roots, he was always willing to share old stories, play trivia, tell jokes and meet new friends, always with a cold pint in hand. Bruce spent his life doing what he loved, being surrounded by airplanes, as he worked for several airlines over 35 years.
He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Marion Silverthorn (nee O’Connell). He is lovingly survived by his spouse, Rochelle, his three children Jeffrey Silverthorn, Shannon Silverthorn Long and Heather Francis (Ryan), his granddaughter, Brinley Long and his sister Gail Schwarz (Martin).
A memorial will take place on Monday, December 18th at 4 PM with a service at 7 PM at Lombardo Funeral Home (Northtowns Chapel) 885 Niagara Falls Blvd. near Eggert/Sheridan Dr. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice of Buffalo are gratefully appreciated.
