NORTH TONAWANDA — A 33-year-old North Tonawanda man was charged on Jan. 14 with first-degree identity theft and third-degree grand larceny following an investigation by New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation.

According to NYSP, on June 19, 2017 the BCI out of SP Lockport received a complaint of a developmentally disabled 33-year-old victim possibly being taken advantage of by Anthony J. Crowley. Further investigation revealed that Crowley had the victim living with him over an extended period of time in poor living conditions. Crowley opened a checking account in the victim’s name and used funds from that account over time, totaling over $4,000 for personal gain.

Crowley was arrested and processed at SP Lockport and arraigned at North Tonawanda Court.  Crowley is to return later in January 2018.
