Niagara women’s tennis bounce Bonnies, 5-2

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. — The Niagara women’s tennis team won its second straight match with a 5-2 victory against the St. Bonaventure Bonnies on Friday.
 
Match Summary

• Niagara rallied to win the doubles point.
• After falling in two doubles, the team of Ali Hutchinson and Chhinda Som won in three doubles (7-5).
• Niagara’s No. 1 team (Stella Peisakhova and Andreea Peteu) squeaked out a 7-6(4) win to clinch the points.
• The Bonnies won in four and one singles to take a 2-1 lead.
• Andreea Peteu battled back after losing the first set to win, 0-6, 6-3, 6-4, in two singles.
• Chhinda Som won a three-set match to give Niagara a 4-2 lead.
• Shannon Wong won in straight sets in five singles to clinch the match.
• Sharlee Deshmukh cruised to a 6-4, 6-0 win in six singles.

• The Purple Eagles have won the doubles point in three of the last four matches.
• Niagara’s No. 1 doubles team (Stella Peisakhova and Andreea Peteu) won its team-best seventh doubles match.
• Niagara’s No. 3 doubles team (Ali Hutchinson and Chhinda Som) have four straight matches.
• Four Purple Eagles have won at least two straight singles matches, led by Sharlee Deshmukh who is on a three-match win streak.
• Andreea Peteu won her team-best 11^th match, while Deshmukh won her 10^th match.
• Niagara improve to 5-1 in home matches.
