UNIVERSITY AT BUFFALO ATHLETICS
BUFFALO, N.Y. — The University at Buffalo men’s basketball team has another challenging slate in front of them as UB, in conjunction with the Mid-American Conference, announced their 2018-19 schedule on Wednesday morning.
“Our staff did a great job putting together a schedule that will challenge our team, but more importantly it will prepare us for another difficult run through MAC play,” said head coach Nate Oats. “We will be heading to West Virginia, Syracuse, and Marquette, which are all teams in the top seven of ESPN’s BPI rankings, but that shows the caliber of competition we want to play each and every year.”
Buffalo will begin the regular season on Nov. 6 against St. Francis (PA). That game will be played at 4:00 pm prior the UB football contest against Kent State, scheduled for 7:30 pm. Following the opener, the Bulls will embark on a two-game road trip to West Virginia (11/9) and Southern Illinois (11/12). It will be the first of two games against the Salukis this year as Southern Illinois will return to Alumni Arena on Dec. 15.
UB will play a pair of home games beginning on Nov. 21 as the Bulls host Dartmouth, while they will remain at Alumni Arena on Nov. 24 for a contest against Marist. Both of these games are part of the Belfast Hall of Fame Classic. Following the game against the Red Foxes, UB will head across the pond for the rest of the Hall of Fame Classic where they will face UW-Milwaukee in the opening game and either San Francisco or Stephen F. Austin in the second game on Dec. 1.
Buffalo will host Le Moyne College on Dec. 5 at 7pm before they will head south to Olean on Dec. 8 for a meeting at St. Bonaventure before returning home for the game against Southern Illinois on Dec. 15. A three-game road trip will begin after that with games at Syracuse (12/18), Marquette (12/21), and Canisius (12/29).
The Bulls will open league play on January 5 at Eastern Michigan. After they return from Ypsilanti they will host Toledo in their conference home opener on January 8 in a rematch of the 2018 MAC Championship game. The Bulls will remain home to face Miami on Jan. 12 before returning to the road on Jan. 15 at Western Michigan.
Six of the first eight games of the conference season will be against MAC West opponents, including a home game against Eastern Michigan on Jan. 19. The Bulls will play road games at Northern Illinois (1/22) and Kent State (1/26) and will come back to Western New York to face Ball State on Jan. 29.
February will begin with a contest at Bowling Green on Feb. 2 and then the Bulls will have a week off, returning home to face Central Michigan on Feb. 9 in a doubleheader with the UB women. Buffalo will have a challenging two-game road trip after that with a game at Akron (2/12) and a second contest against Toledo (2/16).
Following that trip, the Bulls will play three straight in Alumni Arena against MAC East competition with game against Ohio (2/19), Kent State (2/23), and Akron (2/26).
This year, three regular season games will occur in March with trips to Miami (3/2) and Ohio (3/5) before UB closes out the regular season with Senior Day on Mar. 8 against Bowling Green.
MAC games are subject to date and time changes due to the league’s television schedule, which will be announced at a later date.
The 2019 Mid-American Conference Tournament will against be held at the Quicken Loans Arena from Mar. 14-16 with first round games taking place on campus sites beginning on March 11.
Season tickets will be on sale for $160, which gives you access to all men’s and women’s basketball home games for the upcoming year. Season ticket renewal packets will be mailed the week of August 20thand new season tickets will be available at that time as well. Basketball Game Day benefit information will be available with the renewals.
