MOON TOWNSHIP, P.A. — Junior Troy Brady scored two goals and senior Bryce Tramuta recorded five saves to post his second career shutout as Canisius defeated Robert Morris, 3-0, in collegiate men’s soccer action Friday at the North Athletic Complex in Moon Township, P.A.
In the season-opening contest for both programs, Canisius took a 1-0 lead in the 21st minute as freshman Alessio Atzori redirected a corner kick from senior Bjarki Benediktsson into the right side of the net for his first collegiate tally.
Brady doubled the Golden Griffins advantage to 2-0 a little more than four minutes later, depositing a feed from sophomore Manuelle Cavazzoli into the back of the cage from the middle of the box. Sophomore Filippo Tamburini was also credited with an assist on the play.
Brady closed out the scoring in the 77th minute, converting a penalty kick opportunity after he was taken down in the box.
That would be all the support Tramuta would need as he stopped all five shots he faced to keep the Colonials off the board.

“While I am pleased with today’s result, there is plenty we can improve as a team upon moving forward. Robert Morris did a good job of playing a man down in the second half, but we gave them more opportunities than I would have liked.
“While we were able to take advantage of some opportunities offensively, we need to be more clinical in our putting opponents away when we have the chance to do so.”

• Canisius extended its current unbeaten streak against Robert Morris to five games (4-0-1) with Friday’s victory.
• The Griffs held a 15-14 shot advantage for the contest, highlighted by a 10-5 margin in the first half. The Colonials posted a 5-4 edge in corner kicks taken.
• Brady recorded two goals in a game for the third time in his career, matching his output in wins against VMI and Niagara last season.
• Benediktsson recorded his 12th assist in a Canisius uniform during Friday’s contest, moving him into a tie for 10th place on the program’s career assists chart.
• Tramuta posted his second career shutout with his five-save effort on Friday. His first career clean sheet came against the Virginia Military Institute on Sept. 3, 2017.
