The Canisius women’s soccer team opens the MAAC portion of its 2018 slate Sept. 15, on the road when the Golden Griffins travel to play at Saint Peter’s in Jersey City, N.J. Canisius is coming off a 1-0 win over Cleveland State Sept. 9, which helped the Blue and Gold close out non-league play with a winning record (3-2-1) for the second-straight season.
 
LAST TIME OUT
• Canisius posted a 1-0 victory over Cleveland State last Sunday at the Demske Sports Complex in Buffalo, N.Y.
• The Vikings out shot the Griffs, 9-5, but the Griffs held a 4-1 advantage in shots on goal. Cleveland State also held a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks for the contest.
• The game’s lone goal came in the 41st minute when junior Madeline Beaulieu redirected a corner kick with a header into the Cleveland State goal. The marker was the fourth of the season for Beaulieu, which ranks third in the conference.  
• Junior Alana Rossi recorded the shutout win in net for the Griffs. She has two shutouts this season and 16 to her credit for her career on Main Street.

ABOUT THE PEACOCKS
• Saint Peter’s is 0-6-0 on the year
• Brooke Boutchie, Alexandria Couto, and Tess Maitland lead the Peacocks with one goal each for the season.
• Saint Peter’s has gotten 34 saves from its sophomore goalkeeper Victoria Scarratt through the first six games of the season.

• Saint Peter’s has been outscored 23-3 this season. The Peacocks have scored just one goal in their last five games.

CANISIUS – SAINT PETER’S SERIES HISTORY
• Saturday afternoon’s match will be the 28th all-time meeting between the Griffs and the Peacocks.
• Canisius leads the series, 21-5-1
• The Blue and Gold are 13-1-1 in their last 15 games versus Saint Peter’s.
• These two schools first met in 1992, where the Griffs scored an 8-0 victory.

UP NEXT
• The Griffs return home Sept. 22, when the team plays host to Manhattan. That match, which will be broadcast live on ESPN+, is set to start at 1 p.m.
