EDISON, N.J. — Freshman striker Annie Ibey has been named MAAC Women’s Soccer Rookie of the Week for the third time this season, and for the second straight week, announced on Monday.

Ibey scored her team-leading fifth goal of the season as the Purple Eagles defeated Iona, 3-0, in their MAAC opener on Saturday. Ibey scored the opener in the 60th minute, which proved to be fourth game-winning goal of the season, assisted on Niagara’s second goal for her team-leading third assists. She led the Purple Eagles with six shots, including three on goal in 55 minutes of action.

Ibey ranks third in the nation in game-winning goals, leads the MAAC in game-winning goals, points (13), and assists (3), and is second in the league in points per game (1.63), goals per game (0.63), and total goals (5).

The Purple Eagles, who are on a three-game winning streak, return home to host the Rider Broncs on Saturday, September 22 at 1 p.m. NU is 3-0-0 at home this season and its 5-3-0 overall record is its best start since the 2010 season.
