Niagara University, N.Y.- Niagara defeats Mount St. Mary’s in a best-of-seven baker match series four games to one to claim the NU Fall Open tournament win. Emily Brock and Jocelyn Smith were named to the All-Tournament Team.

Kate Ackerman and Jocelyn Smith led the way with a baker average of 20.7, and 20.1 respectively.

Baker Match 1: Niagara 997, Penn State-Behrend 885

Niagara won three out-of five games to capture their first win of the day versus Penn State-Behrend. The win included three games bowled 200 or higher.

Baker Match 2: Niagara 928, Pitt-Bradford 735

The Purple Eagles soared to their second win of the day beating Pitt-Bradford by 193 pins. Niagara’s strong team performance moved their tournament record to 5-2 on the weekend.

Baker Match 3: Niagara 983, Bryant 1053

Despite recording their second highest score of the day the Purple Eagles were defeated by the Bulldogs by a difference of 70 pins. Niagara recorded a very impressive 231 in the final game of this match.

Baker Match 4: Niagara 979, Hilbert 854

Niagara cruised past Hilbert to clinch a spot in the championship game against Mount St. Mary’s. Niagara beat Hilbert in three out-of five games to win by 125 pins.

Best of Seven Match: Niagara 4, Mount St. Mary’s 1 (199-178, 186-182, 223-199, 206-210, 231-183)

Niagara wins the Fall Open defeating Mount St. Mary’s in five games, winning the first three games of the series. Two games were decided by less than five pins. The Purple and White claimed victory in a decisive game five where they posted a score of 231 to capture the championship game.
