Alan C. Montanari, 66, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2025, at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Dominick L. and Margaret (Harvey) Montanari. Alan lived in the same community residence on Buffalo Avenue since 1978.
He was an enthusiastic fan of oldies music and TV shows, including Power Rangers and the 1970’s TV series Happy Days, imitating its lead character Fonzi with gusto. He enjoyed “moon walking” at dance parties with his dear housemates, Wendy, Mary, Tony, Leo, Billy, Josh, Ahmad, Mark and his much-loved Direct Support Professionals, especially Theresa, Bernadette, Mike, Sandy and Leslie.
Alan spent many years working at Opportunities Unlimited of Niagara (OUN). In 2019 Alan was honored with the Inspiration Award by the OUN Foundation at their Heroes of Niagara Awards Dinner. Alan’s artistic talent was highlighted for a brief time at the Albright Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo. His painting entitled “Chives” was displayed by the Cedar Bus Company on one of its many busses. Most recently his days have been spent enjoying activities with friends and staff at the Empower Day Habilitation Program.
Alan’s infectious smile and gentle nature enabled him to be beloved by all. During his multiple stays at Mt. St. Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston, he was treated with an abundance of care and compassion by the nurses, nursing assistants, and hospital staff.
Alan is survived by his loving siblings, David (Mary Lou) Montanari, Charles (Denise) Montanari, Mark (Sherry) Montanari, Mathew (Tammy) Montanari, Lisa (Michael) Davis, and Greg (Stacey) Montanari. He was a cherished uncle to his very special nieces and nephews: Sara Montanari Arcese, Mark Montanari, Connor Montanari, Dominica Montanari, Charles Montanari, Corey Yantz, Sean Yantz, Gina Marie Montanari O’Connor, Brandon Montanari, Caitlin Montanari Ekes, Phillip Palmer, Darrin Palmer, Kaitlyn Mang Douglas, Brittany Mang Roberts, Gianna Montanari, and the late Danielle Palmer. He is also survived by his aunt and uncle, Richard and Nancy Montanari and many cousins.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday November 4, from 3-7 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY 14304.
