
Senior Brody Jones claimed a seventh-place finish as the Canisius men’s and women’s cross country teams competed in the Canisius Alumni Classic Saturday at Delaware Park in Buffalo, N.Y.
Sophomore Clara Sundberg paced the Golden Griffins in the women’s 5k race, crossing the line at 19.40.8, placing 39th. Freshman Julia Gullo (19:43.1/42nd), and juniors Brooke Podgorski (19:55.8/51st), Ella Herman (20:16.0/59th), and Payton Calkins (20:25.4/66th) rounded out the top five runners for Canisius.
Canisius finished in seventh place with a team total of 213 points. Binghamton took first place in the women’s race with 20 points. Roberts Wesleyan (91) and Detroit Mercy (93) rounded out the top three.
In the men’s 8k, Jones led Canisius with his seventh-place finish, crossing the line at 25:16.0. Freshman Nathaniel Fisher (25:53.2/18th), sophomore Fenway Breckels (26:25.9/28th), senior Joe Pivarunas (27:01.2/47th), and freshman Daniel Granville (27:07.3/48th) completed the top five finishers for the Griffs.
Canisius finished in fourth place with a team total of 118 points. Binghamton took first place in the men’s race with 40 points. Detroit Mercy (70), SUNY Geneseo (72) rounded out the top three.
