QueenONEONTA, N.Y. — Buffalo State rallied for two shots and a corner kick in the final five minutes of play, but could not push across an equalizer as the Bengals dropped its SUNYAC opener to Oneonta, 1-0 this afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Buffalo State got off to a quick start with a shot just 19 seconds after the opening whistle and continued the pace to outshoot the Red Dragons 5-3 in the first half.
  • Oneonta nearly broke through before halftime as Andreas Queen (Stone Ridge/Rondout Valley) made back-to-back saves to keep the score even at the first-half whistle.
  • The Red Dragons finally opened the scoring with a goal in the 60th minute off a goal by Ryan Catalano.
  • After over 20 minutes of back and forth play, Buffalo State had its final chances with two shots by August Finn (High Falls/Rondout Valley) and Zakaria Shaibi (Buffalo/McKinley) that were each saved away.
  • Queen finished with five saves in 90 minutes of work.

 
FOR THE FOES

  • Catalano scored his first goal of the season off assists from Roberto Ventura and Witman Hernandez.
  • Nicholas Giordano made five saves in goal for the Red Dragons.
