BUFFALO, N.Y. — Canisius used goals from four different players and a five-save shutout for senior Bryce Tramuta to cruise to a 4-0 victory over Little Three foe St. Bonaventure in collegiate men’s soccer action Saturday at the Demske Sports Complex.
Seniors Melvin Blair and Hunter Walsh, junior Troy Brady and sophomore Filippo Tamburini all scored to pace the Golden Griffins (2-3-1) in their home debut. Luke Iacobellis recorded four saves for the visiting Bonnies (3-3-1).
Tamburini staked Canisius to a 1-0 lead in the 19th minute, tapping home a goalmouth feed from Brady for his second of the campaign. Blair was also credited with an assist on the play.
Blair doubled the Griffs margin to 2-0 just 87 seconds into the second half when he converted a penalty kick opportunity that was awarded after Walsh was taken down in the box.
Brady and Walsh closed out the scoring with a pair of tallies less than two minutes apart later in the frame. Brady struck first at the 73:48 mark, depositing a feed from senior Giovanni Coraggioso into the back of the net from the middle of the box before Walsh slid a shot past Iacobellis and inside the left post during a transition opportunity in the 76th minute.

“I was very pleased with our performance tonight from start to finish. It’s the first time this year that we have put together a good 90 minutes. This was a good way for us to bounce back from last week’s result and prepare for our opening conference game on Wednesday.”
Game Notes
• Saturday’s contest served as the 50th meeting between Canisius and St. Bonaventure. The Griffs are now undefeated in their last eight matchups against the Bonnies (8-0-0), all under the guidance of head coach Dermot McGrane.
• Canisius posted a 21-15 shot advantage for the contest, highlighted by a 12-6 margin in the first half. St. Bonaventure held a 9-6 edge in corner kicks taken.
• Tramuta recorded his third shutout of the season with his five-save effort on Saturday. Four of his five stops came in the second half.
• Tamburini recorded his fourth career game-winning goal with his decisive marker in the 19th minute.
• Blair and Brady both finished with a goal and an assist in the contest.
