Salvatore O. Cioffi, 84, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on September 11, 2025 at Buffalo General Hospital. Born in Little Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Isidore and Margaret (Paonessa) Cioffi.

Salvatore, known to many as “Sam,” moved to Niagara Falls as a child, where he graduated from Niagara Falls High School. He went on to earn his Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Niagara University, proudly serving in the ROTC Program during his studies. His passion for education led him to a fulfilling career with the Niagara Falls Board of Education, where he taught mathematics for over 33 years between LaSalle Middle School and LaSalle Senior High School. He was the first Varsity Men’s Bowling coach. His teams won the first four Niagara Frontier League championships in 1980 – 1983. The team also won a Section 6 title and took LaSalle to the state tournament.

A gifted piano player, Salvatore found joy in music, especially big band and swing jazz. He had a deep appreciation for classic cars and was an avid fan of Humphrey Bogart and other classic films. His love for barbershop novelties was inspired by his father, a well-known barber in the Niagara Falls community.

Above all he is remembered for his faith in God and the light he brought into every room, making every person he spoke to feel special and appreciated. His generosity knew no bounds. His favorite thing to do was to share meals with family and friends and be surrounded by those he loved.

Salvatore is survived by his beloved family, Gordon Wojton Jr., Paula Wojton; Gordon Wojton Sr., Kelsey and Carly Wojton; his cousin Margaret Demske; his sister, Annette White; four nephews and nieces, Kenneth White, David White, Wendy Magaddino, Alison Spagnolo; ten great-nieces and nephews; and one great great-niece.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Arrangements by M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel, Niagara Falls, NY. Visit mjcoluccifuneralchapel.com for online condolences.
