Shirley A. Bevacqua, 91, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on June 21, 2025, at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, NY. Born and raised in Niagara Falls, Shirley was the daughter of the late Floyd and Marie (Gallina) Sdao; and the beloved wife of William A. Bevacqua, whom she married on May 4, 1954 at the former Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.
Shirley was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School and maintained lifelong bonds with her classmates through her active role on the class reunion committee, well into her later years. She pursued her education at Bryant and Stratton School of Business and later earned a certificate in Interior Design from Niagara University in 1979.
For many years, Shirley was a steadfast presence in the family-owned S’Dao Furniture in Niagara Falls. Her talent for design and commitment to service helped the business thrive for 52 years. She was a devout Catholic and lifelong parishioner of Holy Family Parish. She was also a member of the St. Francis Guild at Mt. St. Mary’s Hospital and was active with their annual Pink Elephant Basket Auction.
Shirley was an excellent cook and baker who took great pride in preparing Sunday dinners for her family. Her greatest joy came from time spent with her family, especially her adored grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family extends heartfelt thank you to Janet Ligammari and the dedicated staff of Niagara Hospice House for the kindness, care, and compassion given to Shirley.
In addition to her husband of 71 years, she is survived by her daughter Beth (late Jack) Maggi and was sadly predeceased by her son, David (Micheline) Bevacqua. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Nicole (David) Balzer, Alex Bevacqua, Christopher (Feren) Bevacqua, Lauren (Michael) Tette, Joseph (Kristen) Maggi and Nicholas (Tyler Szumada) Maggi; her great-grandchildren, Andrew, Zoe, William, Guy, Margaux, Arya, Joey, Carmine, Ava and Amelia; her special niece, Leslie (Clint) McCauley and special nephew, Mark Trzeciak, as well as many other nieces, nephews and cousins.
