CANISIUS COLLEGE ATHLETICS
BUFFALO, N.Y. — Quinnipiac used goals from four different players to record a 4-1 victory over Canisius in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action Wednesday at the Demske Sports Complex.
In the league opener for both programs, Rashawn Dally, Paulo Soares, Matthew Taylor and Eamon Whelan all found the back of the net for the Bobcats, who improved to 3-4-1 overall with the victory. Senior Hunter Walshtallied the lone goal for the Golden Griffins, who slipped to 2-4-1 with the setback.
Soares staked Quinnipiac to a 1-0 lead in the 22nd minute when he put home a rebound resulting from a loose ball after an initial attempt by Whelan was blocked by a Canisius defender.
Dally doubled the Bobcats advantage to 2-0 at the 28:12 mark, depositing a feed from Simon Hillinger into the back of the Griffs goal from the middle of the box.
Walsh pulled Canisius within one less than six minutes into the second half, racing down the left side with the ball before placing it just inside the right post to make it a 2-1 contest.
Taylor restored the Bobcats two-goal cushion in the 62nd minute, arching a shot from the top of the box that dropped just under the crossbar and into the cage to make it a 3-1 contest. His goal came less than two minutes after Quinnipiac keeper Jared Mazzola stopped a penalty kick attempt from Canisius sophomore Filippo Tamburini.
Whelan closed out the scoring at the 75:09 mark, redirecting a feed from Soares into the net from close distance.

Game Notes
• Wednesday’s contest served as the 11th all-time meeting between Canisius and Quinnipiac. The Bobcats improved to 9-1-1 against the Griffs in the series with the victory.
• Quinnipiac out-shot Canisius, 19-11, during the contest, highlighted by an 11-5 margin in the first half.
• The Griffs held a 7-6 edge in corner kicks taken during the match.
• Walsh’s second-half goal was his team-leading third tally of the campaign.
