Peter A. Valenti, 88, of the Town of Niagara, NY, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2025, at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. Born in Niagara Falls, he was the son of the late Anthony and Antoinette (Ventresca) Valenti; and the loving husband of Annette (Rizzotto) Valenti, whom he married on April 4, 1964 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.
Pete was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School and a dedicated U.S. Army Veteran, serving in the Military Police from 1955 until his honorable discharge in 1958.
Pete owned and operated Pete’s Barber Shop on 19th Street in Niagara Falls for many years, where he built lasting connections with his customers and took great pride in his craft. His shop was more than just a place for haircuts, it was a memorable gathering spot, filled with stories, laughter, and sense of camaraderie.
A talented artist, Pete played an instrumental role in redesigning the aesthetics at Pine Avenue and Hyde Park in the 1980s, leaving a lasting mark on his beloved city. He was also a third-degree member of the Knights of Columbus #247 Council.
Pete had a passion for sports, cheering faithfully for the New York Yankees and Boston Celtics. He also loved listening to Jazz music. Above all, Pete was a devoted family man who cherished every moment with his family.
In addition to his wife of 61 years, Pete is survived by his son Daniel (Kimberly) Valenti, and was sadly predeceased by his infant son, Daniel I and his son, Anthony Valenti. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Karissa (Alex) Bruchhauser, Gianna Valenti and Jillian Patterson; his great-grandchildren, Melani, Mason and Bryn; two sisters, Grace (late Santo) Fiore and Janet Valenti, as well as many adoring nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two sisters, Nellie (late Patrick) Valenti and Carmela (late Chuck) Angle; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Anthony and Rose Rizzotto.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 4 from 4 – 6 PM at M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will begin at 6:00 PM, concluding with Military honors. Private committal prayer services and entombment will be held for Pete’s family at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Memorial offerings may be made to Juvenile Diabetes at diabetes.org.
