Michael D. Rufrano, 80, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2025, at Schoellkopf Health Care Facility in Niagara Falls, NY.  Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Michael and Rose (LaPorta) Rufrano, and the husband of the late Barbara E. (Nichols) Rufrano, who predeceased him on December 16, 2017.

Michael was a graduate of Trott Vocational High School and proudly served in the United States Army from 1965 until his honorable discharge in 1967.  He was employed with Carborundum, and with Airco Spear-Carbon Graphite as a welder and later as superintendent, for 37 years until his retirement.  He most recently worked at Hank’s Smoke Shop as a supervisor for 12 years.  Michael enjoyed golfing, playing cards, horseracing, and going to the casino.

Michael is survived by his sons, John Celeste, Michael (Michele) Celeste, and Guido (fiancée Lynette Bottom) Celeste; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; his sister, Patricia Rufrano, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  In addition to his wife of 47 years, he was sadly predeceased by his granddaughter, Jennifer Celeste, and his siblings, Carol (Walter) Nichols, Anthony ‘Tony’ Rufrano, and Mary (late Benedict) D’Apollo.

Per Michael’s wishes, there will be no prior visitation or services.  Private interment in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY will be held at the convenience of the family.  If desired, memorial offerings may be made to David’s Path at Schoellkopf Health Care Facility, 621 10th Street, Niagara Falls, NY 14301.  Arrangements by M.J.
